The programme

Practical skills, from the field to the herbarium

Funga Learning Hub is the education and capacity-building programme of Funga Network, advancing knowledge and practical skills in mycology, lichenology and fungal biodiversity conservation across Nepal and the Himalaya. Through training, workshops, seminars, conferences and exchange programmes, it engages students, researchers, educators, local communities and conservation practitioners.

The Hub provides practical training in fungal and lichen identification, taxonomy and systematics, field documentation, herbarium curation, microscopy, DNA barcoding, biodiversity inventories, domestication and digital data management. It also develops research skills: formulating research questions, designing studies, preparing competitive proposals, scientific writing, publishing and communicating findings.

Fellowships

Nurturing the next researchers

Through fellowships, scholarships, mentoring and collaborative research, the Hub nurtures future researchers and conservation practitioners, and strengthens the scientific expertise, collections and networks needed for fungal conservation, sustainable use and evidence-informed policy.
